Messer Construction Awarded J&B Steel Safety Contractor of the Month
J&B Steel Erector’s commitment to safety has allowed us to maintain an average EMR rate of .34, well below the industry average. As a core value we have participated in safety trainings conducted by outside resources, internally and by teaming with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and NIOSH. We invest more than $100,000 annually in training our ironworkers from General Foreman to apprentices. Allied Construction Industries awarded J&B Steel with two awards for 2006: 100% No Lost Work Days, Achievement and Lowest Incident Rate per Group. In 2011, we received a special award from BWC for “Efforts in Preventing Accidents and Injuries in the Workplace” from 9/20/2009 to 10/24/2011 with over 502,000 hours worked. We are also certified as a Drug Free Workplace by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, and are in the end stage of being certified in the Advanced level. A copy of our safety policies and procedures manual is available upon request.
We have a reputation for installing a quality project, no matter how complicated or schedule driven, by being focused on safety in everything we do. We continually strive to support our clients by contributing our expertise to your plan at each unique stage of a project and becoming part of your construction team. As one of the most “tooled up” companies in the region, J&B Steel Erectors boasts a full fleet of pickup trucks, as well as rigging equipment, tie guns, generators, and quick cut saws.
J&B Steel Erectors has cultivated a core group of union ironworkers who are considered team-members. This core group of supervisory members and pace setters is pivotal to the success of our client-focused culture on each of our projects. This group continues to grow and mature together through project experiences, as well as rigorous training. With such a solid core group, we have the ability to comfortably increase our workforce to meet your project needs. Our general foremen stand out in the industry as award winners in safety and supervisory skills. Our lead General Foreman, John Grimmett, was awarded “2012 Foreman of the Year” by the Miami Valley Foreman’s Club of the Builders Exchange of Dayton.
